Track student attendance and assist parents with getting necessary services to ensure that students maintain excellent attendance rates (96% or better);
Advise, encourage, and educate parents to establish an optimal learning environment in their homes;
Consult with the principals and other staff members to ensure effective communication from the schools to the parents and from the parents to the schools;
Actively recruit new students and maintain capacity enrollment by educating the public about Hogan. Represent Hogan at student recruitment fairs, and give tours of the schools to prospective students and parents;
Maintain effective communication with Hogan graduates, track their progress through post-secondary education, and develop an effective reporting mechanisms to gage the progress of alumni through the education system;
Work with the members of the Parent Teacher School Association (PTSA) to further develop the scope of its work and to expand its active membership;
Assist in the development of the Parent Involvement Plans for each building and the Parent/School Compact and ensure they are carried out;
Coordinate parent evaluations; and/or
Other tasks related to these core responsibilities or as assigned by supervisor.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must:

High School Diploma is required. Bachelor’s Degree with a focus on education, social work, community organizing, non-profit management or related field is preferred;
Five years of relevant professional work experience, preferably with a school, community outreach center, or social service provider;
Strong working knowledge of or familiarity with education and child welfare policies and best practices and an expressed desire to continue expanding that knowledge base through self-study and interaction with peers;
Experience in or ability to establish programmatic objectives and create and implement pre and post assessments and evaluations;
Excellent organizational skills;
Excellent teamwork skills and an ability to collaborate with colleagues and partners to identify challenges and to design and implement solutions;
Enthusiasm for charter schools, urban education, and a familiarity working with families living in poverty;
Excellent work ethic, good judgment, positive attitude, and exceptional people skills
Strong analytical skills;
Ability to establish priorities, organize and plan work assignment;
Ability to pass extensive background check;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to keep multiple stakeholder groups, including parents, staff and partners informed of critical issues, activities, and schedules;
Strong PC skills including Microsoft Word and Excel;
Self-starter with ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent interruptions; and/or
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding staff and students.


Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents and students;
Ability to work closely with families, the principals, and teachers to ensure that excellent communication occurs among the school, students, and parents to effectively promote positive learning environments;
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to work independently; and/or
Ability to follow internal procedures to ensure internal controls is properly maintained.
