Hogan Prep and other Kansas City charter schools are working together to make applying to schools an easier and more transparent process. SchoolAppKC provides a single 8 question form that can be filled out using your computer, cell phone or other device. It takes less than 5 minutes to complete, allowing you to select and apply to multiple schools at once.

Hogan Preparatory Academy Lottery procedures

Families apply online using the SchoolAppKC application system. At the end of the open application period, all eligible students will be entered into a lottery. The SchoolAppKC generated list will determine both who is accepted and the order of the waiting list for the remaining applicants. If the number of applications received is fewer than spaces available, all applications will be accepted and the remaining spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis until full. Applicants will receive an email with their application status within 24 hours of the lottery.

Siblings of current Hogan students and children of Hogan current, full-time employees will receive priority in the lottery but must adhere to the residency and application policies. Applications for these students must be turned in during the open application period.

For the 2025-2026 school year, the lottery will be held on or before March 7, 2025. At that time, you will know whether or not your child has been accepted or is on the waitlist.

Important Note About Open Application

The open application period for the 2025–26 school year will begin on November 9, 2024 and conclude on March 1, 2025. Applications received after the open application period closes will be placed at the end of the waiting list.

School Saturday Open House at each HPA School

Submit ONE application on/before this date in order to be eligible for the lotteries of up to 16 peer charter schools.  Simply select "Hogan Preparatory Academy" as well as any other school(s) you may be considering.

You will receive either 1) an offer or 2) a waitlist confirmation from each school you applied to, including Hogan Prep. 

Select ONE offer to accept.  All other offers at other schools will be automatically declined (all waitlist positions will be held though) and the registration process with your selected school will begin.

You may apply on a first-come-first-serve basis for any seats still available OR apply to be added to our waitlist. 

Note: Assistance completing online applications is available at the school during school hours.  Paper applications will also be available.
