A Bright Future for Hogan Prep!

On June 11th, 2021, Hogan Preparatory Academy Board & Superintendent broke ground on a new High School at the current high school location at 1221 E. Meyer Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri. The new school will replace the existing structure, originally built in 1940, with a north edition added in 1946. The building is intended to open for the Fall 2023 school year.

Hogan’s new High School is designed to meet the needs of 21st century students, accommodating individual, small, and large group learning. Spaces are flexible and designed for multiple uses, which supports Hogan’s model of instruction which focuses on an individualized learning plan for every
student. This learning plan is supported by an advocacy model designed to promote social-emotional health as well as academic success.

Designed to accommodate up to 460 students

The new facility allows Hogan to increase their High School capacity by 20%. The new facility will take advantage of steel building construction, and allow for greater flexibility for planned future growth, and other innovative amenities.

This new high school represents not just a building, but Hogan Prep's investment in our students and their individual needs. The modern building and spaces will facilitate hands-on, 21st century learning, and we are excited to begin this journey with and for the entire Kansas City community.

Help Support THIS Project

As we get ready to move into next year, Hogan is planning to launch a new program that personalizes the learning for our students. We have been redesigning the educational experience for our students so we can better meet their needs. Our redesign involves improved facilities, new grade level configurations, and adjusted school schedules so students have access to a more individualized learning experience. That means next year there will be some new and innovative opportunities for our students. A summary of the most significant changes at each level is listed below.

Campus Improvements & Updates

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Hogan Elementary School will have a new grade level configuration. We will move from a K-5 building to a
K-6 building. Current 5th grade students will complete their 6th grade year at the elementary school building located at 2803 E. 51st Street.

Flexible grade level classrooms will be implemented to better personalize the educational experience for each student. Students will have access to multi-age developmentally appropriate classrooms that are designed to accelerate learning and provide support based on their unique needs.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (7th & 8th Grade)

The 7th and 8th grade students will start the school year at our building at 6409 Agnes Kansas City, MO. If
the construction project for the 7th and 8th grade center stays on schedule, those students will move to the new building at 1221 E. Meyer Blvd Kansas City, MO in January, 2023 (2nd semester of next school year). Their new building is located right next to the new high school.

The 7th and 8th grade students will have a new schedule for the 22-23 school year. Their school day will
start at 7:15 and end at 2:15.

HIGH SCHOOL
(9th - 12th Grade)

Hogan High School students (9th through 12th graders) will start next school year on August 18, 2022 in
the new building at 1221 E. Meyer Blvd.

There will be a new schedule for these students. The 9th graders will start school at 7:15 and end at 2:15. The 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students will start school at 8:15 and end at 3:15.

VIRTUAL SCHOOL

In addition to in-person learning, Hogan will offer a virtual school experience for families that choose to take advantage of this unique opportunity. This virtual program will be specifically designed to support a personalized learning experience. It will allow students and families to have a flexible schedule as well as provide support to ensure their academic success.
